The stuff of MisRed’s nightmaresLast week on Battle of the Sous Chefs, if you will recall or read it in my recap, the chefs had an “onion challenge.” They had to make their best dish featuring “onions.” Brilliant. Who comes up with these challenges? Anyway, there were 2 chefs on top: Chris (David Burke’s Sous) and Paul (Doublas’s Replacement Sous for the Chronically Cheerful Drew). Thanks for finally NOT screwing me!Chris won the challenge so David Burke has immunity for the next challenge. On the bottom- giving their Master an additional obstacle in the Elimination Challenge: Jorel (Jennifer’s Sous), Nick (Sue’s Sous) and Jason (David Spud’s Sous). So that sucks. Curtis has promised that two Masters will be eliminated at the end of the Elimination Challenge. For those of you playing at home, they call it The DOUBLE Elimination. Two means Double. You’re welcome. At any rate, there are 7 chefs remaining and after today there will be, in theory, 5. love herThe Masters enter the kitchen for their Quick Fire Challenge and Curtis is standing there with genius Mindy Kaling. (As a little aside, should you not know Mindy’s work (The Office, Mindy Project, her book, etc.) there was an article about her in Entertainment Weekly a few weeks ago where her fellow writers sing her praises. It was an amazingly touching piece, a love letter really… well I guess it was, if MisRed had feelings she would have been touched. Check it out if you are so inclined.) Which one is luckier… hard to sayCurtis explains Mindy is a romantic-comedy aficionado. Mindy explains she just loves the romantic-comedy genre. The challenge is, each Master must choose a movie ticket, and on the ticket is the name of one of Mindy’s favorite romantic-comedies. The Masters will make a dish inspired by the movie named on the ticket they have chosen.
