There is something about this show that keeps me coming back week after week, even though I know I’m going to end up spending an hour of my day being annoyed with Claudia Jordan and amused with Laura Govan’s facial expressions. The latter almost makes up for the former. Almost.
This week’s episode started with, you guessed it, a fight. Between who? Claudia and New York, of course.
New York fighting and acting crazy is neither surprising nor shocking nor annoying to me. It’s what she is known for. I would be more shocked is she acted demure and minded her own business. Claudia … well, we’ll get to her.
It’s 6 days earlier and New York is taking voice lessons. I like the blonde hair on her. I think it softens her a bit. Apparently she’s already voiced 4 episodes of a cartoon [?], and is working on becoming a voice actress for a Disney/Pixar movie. I have a LOT of questions. We’re treated to New York voicing 2 characters, a Jamaican Dora the Explorer and a shady man named Leroy. If you haven’t seen this seen I’d recommend watching it. Seriously stop reading this, and watch it now.
Next we’re at Benzino’s office, and Claudia shows up still fully unaware of this new invention known as a bra.
Out of all the people on this show, I never would have thought I’d be #TeamBenzino, but I 100% am. Benzino asks Claudia about the friction between her and Jennifer, specifically regarding Claudia’s ex-boyfriend who Jennifer is sleeping with/friends with.
Claudia keeps saying she “wishes them well,” but Benzino was basically like, fuck that. His point was essentially that you don’t wish your ex well with someone else, you’re either indifferent to them or you’re still caught up on them. CLEARLY Claudia is experiencing the latter.
Then Claudia tries to call Benzino out on missing meetings. It’s not like he was doing anything important like being present for the birth of his child or anything.
Next Benzino and Karamo are shooting some hoops, and Benzino brings up the issues he’s started to have with Claudia. My main takeaway from this scene was when Benzino asked Karamo which woman he would date on the panel, and Karamo said Laura, because she has the mentality of a man.
Then we move over to some bar in Studio City where New York has invited the cast sans Claudia to a night out. At one point New York tries to turn Karamo on.
*Tingle*
Nothing.
This scene basically illustrated that everyone can kick it and get along just fine, as long as Claudia Jordan is nowhere to be seen. New York ends up saying that, like me, she has no respect for Claudia Jordan, and she doesn’t want to be a part of the talk show. Laura, Benzino and Jennifer all agree that Karamo should take charge of the show, but for some reason he’s still got his head all the way up Claudia’s ass.
We get an interstitial of Claudia and Laura checking out the sound stage for the show. Claudia is wearing a knee-length skirt with a slit up to her hip bone, a white button down shirt, and a vest/gun holster. She also has zero ideas of how she wants the show to look aesthetically.
Then we’re with Claudia and Karamo in Claudia’s rented Porsche when Karamo tells Claudia about the conversations that were had the other night at the bar.
Claudia says she doesn’t care if people like her or not, which we don’t, she just wants to know if they’re interested in doing the talkshow or not.
Then we’re at some strange practice show where everyone is supposed practice their different segments.
This Is All A Joke
This show is, I guess just them talking about what other people are discussing on social media. I’m, like not entirely clear. Laura eventually tells Claudia that she has kids to take care of and things to do, so don’t expect her to be an expert on all the trending topics. Then Claudia brings up the discussion of the other night, and basically says this show is hers and nobody else will be running it.
Fix It, Jesus
Next we’re at Karamo’s event which is an event for HIV and AIDS awareness in the African American community. Because she is the messy heifer that she is, Claudia decides this event, an AIDS AWARENESS EVENT, would be the perfect place to bring up her petty issues about a talk show that will never even air. I won’t even comment on her outfit, because I’m tired of her crimes against fashion.
Full Length Fringe?
As Claudia pulls Benzino away to bitch at him, he calls to Karamo to try and back him up when Claudia says “this isn’t Karamo’s show, this is my show.”
???
I thought this was an ensemble show, but maybe I was misinformed.
After giving a speech at Karamo’s event, Claudia gives Karamo a wrinkled check for $10k, and Jennifer says what everyone else is thinking, “make sure it’s not rubber.” We all know Claudia Jordon ain’t got $10k to be throwing around.
Thankfully Karamo confronts Claudia and lets her know how inappropriate it was for her to bring up such petty issues at an event for such an important issue. Claudia says people don’t pay attention to who starts such arguments, but I was watching the whole thing, and Claudia started it.
Benzino left, and New York wasn’t having it.
