![the good wife season 5 lightbulb]()
Ay Trash Nation! How ’bout this bunch of slimeballs and beleaguered nitwits?! Pretty much everyone is on their game this week, but some are a couple of moves ahead, which makes for some delightful misunderstanding. Alicia and Will once again share a courtroom. Technically, they’re on the same side, which makes their bickering more obvious – and irritating to others. And it makes them need Diane and Cary to babysit them. Honey, do you still have that public defender’s number?Pre Florrick/Agos, this hapless couple came to Lockhart/Gardner for some defense after getting busted for smuggling coke. Hopefully, they managed to keep some of that coke and sell it to cover all the partner hours they’re now racking up. At the Governor’s, Eli shows Big and Marilyn the tape of the stuffed ballot box being brought into the polling place. There is lots of holding mouths and heads. Marilyn foolishly suggests the bright side – they don’t know it was a stuffed ballot box (yes they do) – ok, they don’t know what’s in it (yes, they counted about 30K Florrick votes and about 5 for Matthew Perry) – ok, it can’t be traced back to them (yes it can, that’s clearly their faithful campaign fixer on the tape, Criminal Jim). It’s exactly as bad as it looks. Remember when we tried to fire you? Yeah well, you’re not that hot.Marilyn is disappointed and all kinds of flustered. I would think she’d live for something like this. Technically, it wasn’t on her watch, so she gets several action-packed years of interrogations and hand-slapping, right? But it looks like she really expected these people to behave, which seems naive for an ethics chair. Big and Eli discuss who was behind this tape leaking, and Will looks like the most likely culprit. So, making Regret Face for the press isn’t like riding a bike?Coke court voir dire. People are packed in, milling around and mumbling. One jury is in the box, another is in folding chairs. Peremptory challenges are exercised and argued about. Jurors are questioned and dismissed. The state finds one juror okay for the guy’s jury, but not the woman’s, which sets off another round of squabbling (and fresh scheming) between Alicia and Will.So Will and Diane and Cary and Alicia rush into the hallway and get Kalinda and Robyn to investigate each other’s defendants. Kalinda and Cary see each other for the first time since L/G broke up and she sold him out to Diane. She says she’s sorry, and notes that he’s being a douche about it. He’s pissed, but he’s also hot for her, because she’s Kalinda. The juries are empaneled, but they both want to sit in the box. The judge agrees to let them alternate, which he will soon regret. We learn that the co-defendants met (and fell in looove) on the very same trip they got caught returning from with 2 pounds of coke. Will and Alicia each try to elicit testimony that incriminates the other defendant. Then all […]
