Welcome back drill bits! I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. I hosted 20 family members and the gorgeous weather made the day even better. I attempted to make stuffing but was glad I bought Stove Top as a backup.
So, did you think Blood & Oil wasn’t coming back? I didn’t and wonder if ABC is still marketing the show (I wouldn’t know as I try to avoid commercials). Hopefully I’m not the only one still tuning in to see the shenanigans happening in Rock Springs, (not) North Dakota.
Previously, resident hottie Jules chose daddy Hap over his Evil Son Wick (ESW), who is now assisting the government with the investigation of a stolen oil report, Clif Lundegren and his granddaughter Emma enlist the help of Hap’s first wife Annie to bring Hap down, and Gary is still alive after being left for dead in the woods by ESW and Billy, who lied to his wife Cody about his involvement.
We open in the hospital, where the staff is trying to tend to Gary, who ripped out his throat tube to say “Billy Lefever”. Not good.
Wifey #1 Annie gets bad news that the Carmichael land she and Billy invested in has little to no oil. She immediately heads to the gorgeous Briggs estate and Wife #2 Carla (dubbed “Banker Barbie” by Annie – HA!) is not pleased at the unannounced visit. Annie wants to know what Hap isn’t telling her about the land.
Sheriff Harrison tells his “friend” Hap he has a mole who is talking to the Feds. Then he goes to see Billy to tell him Gary mentioned his name. Keep my name outcha mouth. Besides, Gary is touch-and-go so may not be alive to tell anyone anything. Cody demands to know the truth so Billy comes clean about not working for Briggs and flying to Houston to meet with Annie, though he doesn’t mention he went with Emma and they got to dress up like Cinderella and Prince Charming. Cody is pissed he is keeping secrets.
Briggs Oil is having their anniversary party at the Briggs’s house (natch) and I love this property, especially the creek that runs along the house. Carla wonders if they should still have the party, what with the gubment watching then and all. Hap tells her to call a meeting with Briggs’ senior staff so he can tell them about the stolen report himself. Elsewhere the Feds give ESW the transmitter he needs to record Hap and gets the call regarding the emergency meeting. At the meeting Hap confirms the stolen oil rumors are true, that there is a mole, and no one leaves the room until they find out who it is. While everyone awaits their body scans, ESW crushes the transmitter and drops it into a planter. When he is personally scanned by his father he comes up clean, though AJ tells Lacey ESW is indeed the mole.

At the Tack Room bar Annie and son are reunited. How did he not know she was in town? And why hadn’t she called him until now? Guess he used to live in Houston and she calls him a dreamer and tells him it’s not his job to please Hap. He doesn’t know if his mom loves or hates Hap. She is setting up shop in town (yay) and offers him a job so he can beat Hap at his own game but he declines. Probably too busy being a douchy mole.
There is some talk between Billy and ESW about killing Gary. Billy doesn’t trust ESW, however, it is his hand behind Gary’s life machine when the Sheriff walks in. Billy mentioned Gary took his son (Cody sadly lost the baby in the pharmacy attack) and tells the Sheriff if he wanted to kill Gary he would have done a better job.
Carla gets a visit from Commissioner Myron Stipple who sold her the report. Since the Feds only want a Briggs she offers to throw one of Hap’s kids under the bus which is cold, even for her.
The Feds are pissed ESW doesn’t have the transmitter as they had a deal of immunity in exchange for the confession. ESW tells them his father is not an amateur then asks for immunity for Billy as well (like it’s a BOGO) and they remind him he has to get the confession or all deals are off. This kid is ballsy.
Annie is chatting with Cody and Billy and is psyched for the anniversary party. She tells Billy about the bunk land and tells the the Lefevers to attend the party to find out why Hap wanted it. She thinks there is a bigger play going on and since she’s the greatest you know that she’s right. She has the “Hap Briggs Revenge Syndrome”.

Jules apologizes to ESW for treating him badly and has realized what a prick Hap is. She even understands why his own son put a gun to his face. Seems she also has the “Syndrome” so ESW tells her they can get back at him by turning him into the Feds. Jules just has to switch Hap’s phone for one that is transmitting back to the agents. She is to distract him with sex, which of course works since it is Jules. After, when she tells ESW she still loves him, he meanly turns on her, telling her she was being used and “betrayal is a bitch”. He warns Hap would never forgive her if he knew she made the switch. He leaves her crying. Also, the plan worked and the Feds are able to listen through Hap’s phone.
