Hey Trashies! Happy to see me? I thought so…
Here we are at episode 3 of MDLNY, and the fur is flying around Gotham like a bobcat vortex in a wind tunnel. Let’s get right to it, shall we?
We open with Ryan at Astor Place, home of the prestigious Cooper Union school of art. He tells us John Jacob Astor was at one time the richest man in the US — “Something they’ll say about ME one day.”
He’s meeting with Elad, the seller’s money manager. He says he loves working with money managers, because they have no emotional attachment to the place.
“Therefore, no need for socks or skivvies at the walk-through!”
Ryan says the place is insane. It’s the top two floors, floor-to-floor white Italian limestone. designed by Piero Lissone. Apparently it’s very cool, because the whole apartment is hidden behind secret doors, creating the illusion that it’s a lot smaller and less interesting than it is — Cool!
It has a gorgeous terrace, which can only be accessed through the hidden bedroom wing.
Shhh… don’t tell anyone!
They sit down and discuss price. Elad says all the brokers they interviewed gave him a price range of $12 – 13 million, but Ryan says he thinks he can get much more than that. He has a bold new idea for marketing — he’d like to list it off-market with no price!
Elad is all scary, but he’s willing to give Ryan a chance. “You better not let me down,” he growls.
Back to the Mansion. It’s a big old mess, and Fredrik is “freaking out” on the phone to Jordan. Jordan goes on and on about how the “buyer” is going back to “Singapore”, and has to “catch a flight”, and blah dee-blah blah-blah. He agrees to come down with the team and help Fredrik clean up.
“I’m sooo ‘stressed out’ — see?”
Fredrik is further than EVER from his goal of selling out the building. He’s sold every other unit at record price, but now he’s “screwed”! He’s ordered renderings, but blah blah blah. He has to communicate this vision, blah blah and etcetera!
Oh no, here they come! “It’s now or never!” he cries. “Hurry, Jordan!”
