Dancing with the Stars Recap: Three’s Company

Hi, Trashies. We’re almost to the end. It’s the semifinals. We can do this. We can make it through! Here we go…

We’re starting with the trio dances and Mark and Paige are up first. They’ll be dancing with Alan Bersten because Paige has danced with him before. They just kind of laugh at the rumors that have been going around about the two of them dating. No actual answer is given. Something about Paige being preoccupied with the competition.

Paige really has been the dark horse in this competition. I honestly thought she’d go home early. I’m not sure if that was enough samba content for Len, but it sure was entertaining. I guess I was wrong about Len. He calls the dance a showstopper and says that it was brilliant. Bruno gets way too much pleasure from calling Mark and Alan peacocks. Carrie Ann just kind of yells and says the dance was “on fleek.” When did she start doing this? She used to actually give critique in between flirting with the good looking men.

Ugh. There’s more “are they or aren’t they?” questions about Paige and Alan.

Scores:
Carrie Ann – 10
Len – 10
Bruno – 10
30/30
So, this is the point in the show where literally everyone gets 10s.

Antonio and Sharna are dancing an Argentine tango with Hayley Erbert. I’m really glad that Antonio seems to have gotten rid of his Lego man hair. The rehearsals don’t give us much of anything.

Dammit, the Lego hair is back. The dance was fine, but I really can’t believe Antonio as a strong leading man. I think a lot of athletes fail in the performance department. They can get the steps, but they’re not actors, so putting on a character is tough for them. Bruno takes a long time to make a metaphor about a lion. Carrie Ann thinks that Antonio is the contestant who has come the furthest when it comes to being a dancer. Len disagrees with Carrie Ann’s comments about Antonio’s frame being a little too small for the dance.

Scores:
Carrie Ann – 9
Len – 9
Bruno – 9

OK, I guess not everyone is getting all 10s tonight.

Yay! TEAM WANYA! Obviously he and Lindsay are dancing with Witney. That’s pretty much a given every season. Anyway, last week, with the slip up with the bandanna, was the first time where Wanya felt worthless in this competition. Don’t worry, Wanya. You’ve got the PopePhilly vote and we all know that’s the only vote that matters.

We always see Wanya bring the swagger, but it’s really cool to see him bring this kind of power to the dance floor. Carrie Ann starts the judging by hugging Wanya and she just says, “Welcome back!” Len gives a standing ovation. Brunos all metaphors tonight. This one is about thunder and lightning.

Scores:
Carrie Ann – 10
Len – 10
Bruno – 10

Good. I don’t want to lose Wanya.

Nyle and Peta are dancing with Jenna Johnson and it’s really cool that she knows some ASL. Peta thinks that Jenna is getting super charmed by Peta and then there’s a lot of footage of them flirting.

I know ABC is likely setting us up for a Ginger win, but I’d really like to see Nyle beat her (if Wanya doesn’t win, of course). Len thinks the diner served up a tasty jive, but they lost sync on occasion. Bruno says the words “charm” and “charming” a lot. Carrie Ann says that trio jives are tough because they get busy and, as a result, can easily get out of sync.

And JoJo Fletcher is there because The Bachelorette starts next week.

Carrie Ann – 9
Len – 9
Bruno – 9

That’s fair.

Yay! Val and Ginger are dancing with Artem. I need more Artem in my life. I guess he just won the mirror ball trophy in the UK version of the show. Val makes some metaphor about he and Artem being the honey mustard and Ginger is the chicken nugget. Yeah, that’s enough metaphors for the night, everyone.

That dance just reminded me that The Dark Tower is currently filming and I’m sorts of nerd excited. The dance was fine, but Ginger kind of looked like she was going to burst into laughter the entire time. Why did Bruno compare that to Pulp Fiction? Oh, he’s just throwing out movie titles at this point. Carrie Ann makes comments about how Ginger looks and says she’s grown as a dancer. Len enjoyed the attack and passion, but it was a little too much at times.

Scores:
Carrie Ann – 9
Len – 9
Bruno – 9

Can Ginger please go home tonight?

And now onto the second round! Paige had a very outdoorsy childhood. Ah, so she has a lot of dance experience. She danced until high school wen she became a cheerleader. Unfortunately, a lot of the older girls gave Paige a hard time because she made the squad and they didn’t. Her family decided to move to Reno to get her out of the situation she was in. That’s when Paige’s involvement in MMA started. Anyway, she hopes that everyone sees that she can make it despite all she’d been through.
