Ribbit … Well, that was one happy-go-luck hour, wasn’t it, Trash O’ My Heart? It just flew by with all that laughter and gaiety. Why, I’m sitting here with a bottle of scotch and an 8-ball because I’m just so damn happy. Beats cutting. Anyway, after last week, Chalky and Daughter head down to Havre de Grace, Maryland, which Daughter symbolically/ironically interprets as “Haven of Grace.” They’re going to visit Louis Gossett, Jr. who’s in a pretty lousy mood the whole episode. He’s an old friend of Chalky’s who’s not exactly thrilled to see him. But then, no one in Havre de Grace seems too thrilled to see Chalky and Daughter. There’s a lot of side-eyes, awkward silences and flat out insults. And then it gets bad. Meanwhile, up in AC Knolliver turns the screws on Eli who starts losing his shit and tries to figure out a way not to screw over Nucky because he remembers how he just barely missed getting killed the LAST time he screwed over Nucky and there’s no Jimmy (JIMMY!) around to deflect blame. But that would mean selling out “Will” so Eli makes the best decision possible: staying piss drunk. Nucky, for his part, gets a totally jacked up call from Means who needs a lot of money fast and has information about a skunk in Nucky’s cellar that he’ll sell for $50K, no $75K, no $200K noooo … HALF A MILLION. Nucky just hangs up while Means gets arrested and somewhere, out there, Jimmy James hangs his head in shame. Thompson Family Values But that call does get Nucky to thinking who the skunk is, landing on Knolliver. Eli’s all humina humina what? Which doesn’t make Nucky any more relaxed. Especially after Eli tells June, in front of the whole family, to shut her fucking mouth when she starts talking about the “blue-eyed, baby-faced” insurance salesman. Then Nucky overplays his hand and tries to get “Will” to rat out his father. To his credit, “Will” hasn’t crossed that Rubicon, yet, and just slinks away realizing why Eli drinks so much and spends his time alternating between revering and plotting Nucky’s demise. Finally, Gillian. Everything’s looking up for Gillian … she sells the house, she dumps Tommy, she’s getting married … until it isn’t. So long, Gillian. You were a no good, very bad, horrible person but Gretchen Mol was fantastic in the role. Full recap will be up in a few days. Until then, you can catch up on last week’s recap here.
