This episode was very confusing to me. I came out of it on Renee’s side, even though I suspect I was supposed to believe she was a rat and side with Alicia. I thought Alicia came out of this looking like a crazy woman who was simply projecting her fears all over Renee. But, let’s get into the recap you guys can tell me what you think. We start out with Drita. She is in the studio talking about her album. OK, I know that she performed live with Lil Kim, but I had no idea there was an album in the works. And, Method Man?! That is awesome! I do think it says something that well known rappers seem to be fans of these women. I mean, Lil Kim, Method Man, 50 Cent. These aren’t wannabes or one hit wonders. Renee and Big Ang (Yay!) take a walk to discuss the aftermath of last weeks rat accusations from Alicia. Renee feels like she went to support Alicia only to be called a snitch. She is her trademark over the top angry about it. Here is the thing about Renee, I believe that she is a genuine person who loves hard and hates hard. I think that has always been her personality. I think she gets into trouble when she reacts in such an over dramatic way even if she is in the right. Because even though she has a right to be upset, her extreme reaction comes across as protesting too much. I think the producers are using that to make her look worse than she already does when she is just being herself. This scene is juxtaposed against Alicia and Drita having lunch and discussing the same thing. Alicia is all about saying that Renee is feeding information to her friends. She isn’t acknowledging the fact that she and her husband aren’t the only friends of Renee that were indicted in this mess. So, Renee being Renee, she is going to be as supportive as possible to every friend involved in this. For me, this is no different than the big bust that happened during the first season. Renee was taking charge, talking to people about lawyers, bail, and how to best support the friends that got fingered. So it makes perfect sense to me that they would talk to her about what they heard on the tapes and what the word on the street is. It doesn’t mean she is feeding anyone information and it definitely doesn’t mean she is going to the press. Ang believes that Alicia is barking up the wrong tree by implying that Renee is a rat, but she also wants Renee to see that Alicia is on edge because she is stressed and the stress is driving her over the edge.
