DWTS Recap: Dancing on TV

Hi, Trashies! It’s TV night! Our stars will be dancing to some iconic (and not so iconic) TV theme songs. Let’s get right to the judging, shall we?

First up, it’s Maureen and her tears. Seriously, I can’t deal with her crying anymore. Oh, of course they’re dancing to the theme song from The Brady Bunch. On a happy note, Florence Henderson is here! I adore her. Wasn’t she on the show before? Did I recap her?

That took a long time to actually get started, but it was definitely an improvement from the last week. That doesn’t really say much though. Len is happy that Maureen captured the feeling of the TV show and her confidence was much better than last week. Julianne agrees, but Maureen needs to work on the body contact. Bruno likes the sassy 1970s feel, but there were some missteps from time to time. Despite that, as the others have said, the dance was much better this week. Carrie Ann just repeats what everyone else says.

Carrie Ann – 7
Len – 6
Julianne – 6
Bruno – 7

Oh, Janna Kramer is still on the show. She was on the show One Tree Hill, so she’s dancing to the theme from that show. Unfortunately, she hurt herself in rehearsal this week by tearing muscles between her ribs. The doctor tells her that she should stop, but no one ever listens to the doctor when they’re on this show.

As far as I know, Gavin DeGraw only exists on this show. The dance was fine, but it was kind of boring for a night like this. There’s a different between dancing to a random song that happened to be the theme song of a TV show and dancing a routine with the style of an iconic show. Julianne gives Janna credit for trying despite being in pain. Aside from that, she’s a good dance, but has to work on some details. Bruno makes some joke about watching the dance and having to go to confession. His rants just aren’t entertaining this season. Oh, never mind, he extends his leg to demonstrate. I’m uncomfortable. Carrie Ann could see Janna’s pain the whole time, but the effort and intensity was 100% there.

Carrie Ann – 7
Len – 8
Julianne – 7
Bruno – 7

Wow. Len is in a good mood tonight. Too bad we didn’t get to hear his critique.

Ugh, I love Green Acres, but I still hate Rick Perry. I can’t roll my eyes hard enough of the whole “team dance for our vets” pandering. The rehearsal wasn’t much of anything because we had to watch the whole “campaign” video.

That was the slowest quickstep that’s ever happened. The boyfriend just poured me a glass of wine and said, “I think you need this after that.” Bruno gives Rick credit for having fun, but the footwork was just a mess. Carrie Ann disagrees with Bruno, but kind of doesn’t. It’s weird. She just says exactly what Bruno did. Len just says that Rick needs a bit more polish. A bit?!

Carrie Ann – 6
Len – 5
Julianne – 6
Bruno – 5

That was super generous.

Calvin and Lindsay are dancing to the theme from Family Matters. So, yeah, he’ll be like a super ‘roided up Steve Urkel. The intro package was really just glossed over.

OK, who is the dance with the bleached out hair and dark beard. That guy looks stupid. Other than that, the dance was just kind of cute. Carrie Ann loves Calvin’s charm and his hold was really good. Len simply says that watching Calvin dance brings him joy. Julianne just repeats everything and, thankfully, we don’t have to listen to Bruno talk.

Oh, look. Jaleel White is here. I guess he got a break from filming a Mega Shark movie.

mega-sharkAt least he got top billing.

Scores:
Carrie Ann – 7
Len – 7
Julianne – 7
Bruno – 7

And everyone is just happy to say, “Better than last week!”

Amber and Maks are dancing to the theme from Game of Thrones and Maks needs to dress like this always. Damn. Also, I was totally right about this pairing! They really seem to work well together. Maks is a task master when it comes to dancing and Amber needs someone to, basically, kick her ass into gear.

All the frippery made it kind of hard to see if that was any good or not. Len would have liked to have seen a true ballroom hold, but liked it overall. Julianne recognizes that Amber worked on the critique from last week, but the shoes (not ballroom shoes) caused a lot of slip ups. Bruno just grabs Julianne to demonstrate things and Len just covers his face. I imagine he’s trying to hid a cringe.
