I hate to have to be apologizing to y’all for the lateness of this recap, but here we are. I ended up doing the finale of Big Brother last week which put our precious Tyler Henry on the back burner. I had lofty plans of giving you two recaps together in one, but life (and my phone) have conspired against me and I can’t do screencaps right now, SO: here’s last week’s episode, and I’ll get you this week’s as soon as humanly (and iPhonely) possible!
Last week’s episode covered Maria Menounos, Pia Toscano, Retta, Larry Birkhead, and lots and lots of crying. LOTS of crying. First up – Maria Menounos!
Hiiiiiiii
I love that Maria says that she hates being vulnerable – she would get along great with like EVERY contestant on The Bachelorette. Initially, I thought that the saddest thing about this reading would be the way Maria’s boyfriend spells his name.
Lucky Number Keven
But no, you know it’s gonna go downhill from there. First up Tyler makes contact with a family friend who died of cancer. If anything, this show has really hammered home for me how many people deal with cancer – the statistics are staggering and depressing and this is a SUPER fun show to watch! Anyway, then Tyler communicates with someone who died the second most common way that pops up on this show: a car crash. It’s Maria’s cousin, and he was actually killed by the impact of the seatbelt on his body, so now I have another thing to worry about – thanks. Last but not least, Tyler talks to Maria’s grandma – she is hanging out with the deceased cousin and they’re both totally chill and having a great time. Bye Maria!
Bye Maria’s cool-ass house!
Now everybody get hype because it’s Retta time.
Heyyyyyy
Retta is a fan of the show and excited for the reading, and Tyler of course is like “oh she’s a lovely lady but I had no idea who she was”. Cool, kid. Retta’s like “first I want to know the Power Ball number” and Tyler makes this classic face:
Oh, you.
Retta’s reading focuses on her career and health, minimal dead family talk (THANK YOU). Tyler tells Retta that she’ll have problems with her back, ankle, AND knee. A spirit starts coming through, and Retta says “I hope that there’s no like, bad spirit who liked to skin people that likes me and for some reason likes to hang out at my apartment”, but it’s not – it’s a dead grandma. A feisty dead grandma – is there any other kind? Moving on to Retta’s career and the future, Tyler says relax (don’t do it) everything will be fine. Hooray!
Next stop, Pia Toscano, who I don’t know if Tyler recognizes, but I do not.
Kind of Natalie from Big Brother vibes?
Tyler opens this reading with a little chuckle that I don’t like, then we move on to talking to a dead male relative, Pia’s grandfather. He communicates with numbers, particularly the number 13, which was his birthday, and it pops up everywhere. Tyler’s been seeing the number 13 for like a week now and even talked about it in his video diary.
Riveting.
This one actually did touch me a little bit (shocking, I know), because I was very close to my grandfather too, and also when doing a little search on Pia it turns out we have the same birthday. So that’s cool.
Moving on to the main event – Larry Birkhead!
Looking pretty good, actually
Tyler thinks maybe Larry is Keith Urban?
Good guess.
First Tyler talks to Larry’s father, who died after a knee surgery – yikes. Next up is an insistent woman, who left messages on a mirror in lipstick, and liked big hats. Any guesses who that is? That’s right – Trim Spa, baby; it’s Anna Nicole Smith!
Hey, y’all
Larry doesn’t initially disclose who Tyler is talking to, but when he does say it’s Anna Nicole, Tyler makes this face:
That’s nuts!
They talk about Larry and Anna Nicole’s daughter Dannielynn, and keeping her out of the spotlight, and how Larry’s doing a good job with that. Also, Anna Nicole loved Larry the most and he was her soulmate. You know, I feel like I would believe Tyler Henry more if just once, just ONCE he said something negative. Like, “actually, Anna Nicole never really loved you” or “your grandma is very disappointed in you”. Something different. But who cares what I want. Be back at you soon with this week’s episode, featuring Psychic Connection’s very own spokeswoman, Tori Spelling. Until then…
