weiner monsterWelcome back to another week of Face Off! After a week of reflection I finally realized why I’m drawn to the contestants with stupid hair… Exhibit AExhibit BYes your recapper also had a few years of experimenting with stupid haircuts (there was also the shaved head period but I figure I don’t need to expose the internet to that – I looked like Elijah wood. Picture it… good, now let’s move on) Anyway, we still have a million contestants (true story, last week I kept getting Corinne and Margaret mixed up so I’m happy that an elimination has reduced my mental load by one person) so let’s start the show, see who we like more this week and who we can go ahead and forget. We begin with George and… Matt? Matt feels bad that Margaret went home, and he pretty much says “it was the judges call” which is lamer than saying “I fucked up half of that design” but whatever.Sorry… I’m not sorryIt’s time to head out into the world and get this weeks challenge. Rashaad tells us that everyone has arrived at a farm. Thanks Rashaad. He says it’s pretty cool – I grew up in rural New Hampshire so I’m inclined to disagree. Farms aren’t cool Rashaad. Living in an area with a Chipotle and a movie theatre is pretty cool. Get your priorities in check. Your challenge is sponsored by Del Monte canned corn.. everyone please make a corn-inspired super-hero… and GOI assume they’re in a crop circle (man wouldn’t it be cooler if this was a “design a fantasy/sci-fi farmer? I want a space cow!) MacKenzie says that crop circles are a tell-tale sign of life on other planets. In the last 30 years over 10,000 crop circles have appeared around the world. Conspiracy theorists think they’re intergalactic distress signals. That’s idiotic. Sorry. Not sorry. Side story – I was recently in Chile on vacation and we were in an area with ancient geoglyphs.  A guy in my tour group kept insisting they were made by aliens because “there was no way humans could make something that massive” and “we will never know what technology could have been involved, but it wasn’t human” and I came very close to exploding with nerd-rage. Dude I’m pretty sure aliens have better things to do with their time than blow the minds of red-necks. Anyway. Each contestant gets a suitcase with a distress message – the designers have to work in teams of 2 to design an alien reflecting the message. Apparently we don’t get a mini challenge this week, this is the big one so we’re just gonna dive right in then (bummer, since the designers work together the first few weeks I usually like the Foundation challenges since it helps me figure out who is actually any good and who is coasting with good luck and better teammates…) The teams are randomly assigned, they are: Niko & Corinne – We need WaterChloe & Graham – […]
